Capable Engine Options

The Silverado 1500 offers four engine options, with the availability of each engine tied to specific trim levels. Depending on whether you are looking for a work truck or an all-terrain-capable monster, you can choose from a TurboMax engine, two EcoTec3 V8s, and a Duramax turbo-diesel.

TurboMax

At entry level, the Silverado 1500 is powered by a vigorous TurboMax engine generating 310 horsepower and a best-in-class 430 lb-ft of torque. Power delivery is managed by an 8-speed automatic transmission that comes with a dedicated Tow/Haul mode. Without any additional equipment, the base Silverado 1500, powered by the TurboMax engine, offers a max payload capacity of 2,260 lbs.

EcoTec3 V8

Drivers seeking spirited driving and off-roading adventures can opt for the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8, which comes standard at the LTZ and High Country trim levels. A higher displacement 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 with an improved throttle response is also available as an option on the RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2, and High Country trim levels. The larger engine cranks out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque and pairs with an exciting 10-speed automatic transmission.

Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel

The engine lineup also includes a diesel option with superior towing capabilities. The Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel comes standard on the ZR2 trim, producing 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque and pairing with a 10-speed automatic transmission. When the diesel-powered Silverado 1500 is equipped with the available Max Trailering Package, drivers can harness the truck’s immense power to tow 13,300 lbs.

Spacious and Durable Bed

A best-in-class 89.1 cubic feet of cargo space enables you to haul construction material, furniture, or even a dirt bike in the Silverado 1500’s Durabed. The bed’s roll-formed high-strength steel construction gives it the structural integrity to hold thousands of pounds without deforming.

Exceptional All-Terrain Capabilities

The Silverado 1500 has no trouble driving deep into the wilderness thanks to its 8.08 inches of ground clearance and fully boxed, high-strength steel frame. If you regularly explore the outdoors, the all-terrain capable Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, and ZR2 trim levels are the right choice. Sitting at the top of the range, the ZR2 offers 11.22 inches of ground clearance, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear E-lockers, protective underbody skid plates, and much more.
